The Goalie Development Centre and its instructors are commited to developing the modern, 'thinking', hybrid goaltender. to do this we address ALL aspects of the goaltender's game; physical, technical, tactical, and mental. Click on the links for more information. Chris Woodford, Bkin Chris hails from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and has lived in Calgary for 3 years now. He received a Kinesiology degree from the University of New Brunswick. Chris has been playing and coaching hockey for over 20 years in places such as; Anaheim California, Lennox Mass., England as well as across Canada. He has worked with many different camps such as The Big Bear Sports Ranch in California, Mah-Kee-Nac in Mass. and as well as the Torjager camps here in Calgary. Chris is excited to be a part of The Goalie Shop staff to be able to teach goaltending fundamentals as well as instill his passion of goaltending on to others. Katie Urness Katie hails from Calgary and is in her third season as the Women’s Dino’s Varsity goaltender. Katie’s hockey history includes winning the 2005 Canadian Western Shield as well as playing in the Major Midget Female Hockey League. She has been the goalie coach for the Southern Alberta AAA Select Program as well as the Dino’s and Oval Extreme Hockey Camps, just to name a few. She is working on her degree in Communications with a minor in Management and Society. We are glad to welcome Katie on board. Mike Dew Mike was born and raised in Edmonton but by some stroke of luck still turned out to be a relatively normal individual. He is currently at the University of Calgary working towards a Kinesiology degree, majoring in Sport Psychology. He has played hockey for 14 years and is a graduate of the St. Francis Xavier hockey academy, where he gained an excellent grasp of both the technical and physical aspects of top level goaltending. He has been an instructor for six years, teaching both privately and through the Goalie Centre in Edmonton. Mike is excited to contribute to the Calgary goaltending community and the Goalie Shop. Devon Lowe Devon has completed her first
year studies in Bachelor of Applied Business in Sport and Recreation.
She has been training goalies for quite some time now and has played
Ringette for 14 years. Devon has received two scholarships, attended
Canada Winter Games, medaled at 4 National Championships, received an
MVP award at World Championships and coached for a good amount of years
both in group and one on one environments. Devon believes that having
a female instructor with actual experience in the sport will inspire
younger girls to want to develop further skills and motivate them to
continue on to higher levels of play. |
